Elmer

It’s impossible to overstate just how special Elmer is. He’s the ultimate barn cat—charming, fearless, and full of love. He greets every visitor, hops into cars as if he’s hitching a ride to adventure, and adores all the animals on the farm, from the horses and sheep to the dogs.

Elmer’s story began on Thanksgiving Day in 2022 when we received an urgent call about two tiny kittens found under a porch on a freezing morning. Tragically, the rest of their litter hadn’t survived. When we arrived, we found two fragile, two-week-old kittens, cold and hungry. Without hesitation, we scooped them up and brought them home, beginning our journey of raising these two rambunctious little survivors.

As a kitten, Elmer was the quieter of the two—small, wiry, and always letting his sister take the lead. She was the adventurous wild child, while Elmer was the sweet and gentle soul. But as he grew, so did his confidence. His bold, loving personality won over everyone he met.

Heartbreak struck when his sister managed to push open a window screen one summer night and disappeared into the dark. We searched for weeks, even bringing in search dogs, but despite our efforts, she was never found. Losing her was devastating.

Since then, Elmer has stayed close to home, always wearing a GPS tracker during his supervised outdoor hours. He spends his days lounging in the gravel, snoozing in the hay room, and making laughable attempts at hunting rodents.

Elmer has carved out a place in every heart he meets. He is, without question, the best barn cat in the world—just ask anyone lucky enough to know him.
