JUDE

Clyde, Mac and Jude were our first sheep! They are three Shetland Sheep that we came across on Craiglist one fateful day. They were being offered up for wool or meat, and we contacted the poster to find out if they could come live with us. The sheep farmer was quite friendly and loved what we were doing and agreed to let them come live with us.

We gave them all Scottish names, which you may notice is a theme at our sanctuary! The boys were roughly 6 months old, called “wethers” which means they have been castrated, when they arrived at the sanctuary and we were all so in love with them immediately. Many people assume sheep to be quiet and shy, but they are incredibly intelligent, and hilarious animals with huge personalities.

Jude is the favorite of so many who meet our sheep herd. He is protective and has to size up new people, but once he has your trust, he is loyal and loving. Jude has the most spectacularly soft fleece and loves having his chin scratched most of all!

Our sheep herd is sheared every spring, and their horns trimmed as needed. Did you know that their fleece never stops growing?! Sheep are so fascinating and we are grateful Clyde and his brothers get to call Rewild Refuge home!
